Chen Dongchu Wanted to Pay Homage to Mei

　　陳東初（陳日升）為唐德宗時期官員，被宰相盧杞所害，他的好友梅伯高要救他，卻也遭陷害滿門被斬，僅梅良玉一人逃出。

 　　Chen Dongchu was an official in the Dezong period of the Tang Dynasty and was framed by Prime Minister Lu Qi. His good friend Mei Bogao wanted to save him, but was also framed and the whole family was beheaded. Only Mei Liangyu escaped.

　　陳東初因此辭官隱居楊州，巧遇落難而化名為王喜童的梅良玉救了他，並讓他管理家中梅園。在梅伯高的忌日時，陳東初在梅園要祭拜梅伯高，忽然梅花遇風雪都謝了，陳東初很傷心，發誓除非梅花再開，證明梅家有後，否則要出家。陳東初的女兒杏元誠心祈求神明讓梅花再開，果真二度花開，並發現梅良玉為摯友之後，陳東初因此將女兒許配給梅良玉為妻。

　　Chen Dongchu resigned from his official position and lived in Yangzhou. Mei Liangyu, who was renamed Wang Xitong, rescued him and asked him to manage the plum garden at home. On the anniversary of Mei Bogao's death, Chen Dongchu wanted to pay homage to Mei Bogao in the plum garden. Suddenly, the plum blossoms died of wind and snow. Chen Dongchu was very sad and vowed to become a monk unless the plum blossoms bloom again and prove that there are offspring in the Mei family. Chen Dongchu's daughter Xingyuan sincerely prayed to the gods to let the plum blossom bloom again, and the plum blossom bloomed again as if he had heard a request. After discovering that Mei Liangyu was the son of a good friend, Chen Dongchu betrothed his daughter to Mei Liangyu as his wife.
