60th Divine Metaphor Paper: Qian（謙 / Humility）

謙：亨，君子有終。

初六：謙謙，君子用涉大川，吉。

六二：鳴謙，貞吉。九三，勞謙，君子有終，吉。
六四：撝謙，無不利。

六五：不富以其鄰，利用侵伐，無不利。
上六：鳴謙，利用行師，征邑國。

謙：亨，君子有終。

謙卦：成功之道，在於能堅持到最後的履行謙道。

Qian: The way to success lies in the gentleman's ability to perform humility to end.

初六：謙謙，君子用涉大川，吉。

最初的陰爻：不自大、不虛誇是君子用來面對重大事務的態度。順利安祥。

Six at the beginning means: Not being arrogant and not boasting is the attitude that a gentleman uses to face important affairs. Smooth and peaceful.

知道自然存在的潛在危險、了解人力與天相較的渺小，用心做好所有的準備工作，所以能安然渡過大河（大阻礙）。

Understand the smallness of man and the sky, so I can cross the river in front of me safely (big obstacle).

六二：鳴謙，貞吉。

位於第二層的陰爻：提倡謙虛的價值並堅守此道則幸福光明。

Six in the second place means: Proclaiming the value of humility and sticking to it brings happiness and light.

九三：勞謙，君子有終，吉。

位於第三層的陽爻：不怠惰、不驕傲，持之以恒，自然諸事順利。

Nine in the third place means: Don't be lazy, don't be proud, persevere, and everything will go smoothly.

中國晚清名臣之一曾國藩曾言：「勞謙二字，受用無窮。勞所以戒惰也，謙所以戒傲也。」

Zeng Guofan, a famous official in the late Qing Dynasty in China, once said: "The word labor and modesty can be used inexhaustibly. Because of hard work, you can stay away from laziness. Being humble can keep away from pride."

六四：撝謙，無不利。

位於第四層的陰爻：發揮真誠謙遜的美德，使君子無往不利。

Six in the fourth place means: Give full play to the virtues of sincerity and humility, and let the gentleman go smoothly..

撝：
1.音同「揮」；作動詞用為「揮動」、作形容詞用為「誠摯謙遜的」。

1.The pronunciation is the same as "hui"; as a verb it is used as "wave" and as an adjective it is used as "sincere and humble".

2.音同「為」；輔佐的意思。

2.The sound is the same as "wei"; the meaning of auxiliary。

六五：不富以其鄰，利用侵伐，無不利。

位於第五層的陰爻：不是以財富（而是以志趣、理念 - 謙虛）來收服近處的人心。對於理念相差甚遠者，則聯合有相同價值觀者一同對抗，沒有不順利的。

Six in the fifth place means: Not with wealth, but with aspirations and ideas (modest and gentle) to subdue the hearts of people nearby. For those whose ideas are far from each other, join forces with those who share the same values to fight together, and nothing will go wrong.

上六：鳴謙，利用行師，征邑國。

最上方的陰爻：彰顯謙道，以其為行事準則的發揮實力令對方臣服。

Six at the top means: Demonstrating strength with humility as the code of conduct makes the opponent surrender.

六五及上六均是展露實力的時候，難免會有一戰（大型競爭）。在戰爭中，主事者仍不忘自律及謙和，並以此約束戰士們（同伴們）的行為，將成就歸於上天，所以事事順利。

Six in the fifth and Six at the top are the time to show strength, and there will inevitably be a battle. In the war, the person in charge still did not forget self-discipline and humility, and restrained the behavior of the soldiers and attributed the achievement to God, so everything went smoothly.

卦爻匯意：

成功之道，在於了解謙道後，堅持到底的履行它。

謙卦的表面意思是謙虛，退居人後，但它的深層意思則是對神明、對天道的虔誠。把「天」當成自己的主人，認真做老天指派的任務。如果事情成功了，功勞是老天的，我們只是盡本份，所以沒什麼可驕傲的。如果事情作不成，老天自有安排，我只要問心無愧，也沒什麼可悔憾的。
